News Event Publication Economy and Labour AI in the Workplace: FEPS-Nordic Digital Programme Concludes with Inspiring Stockholm Conference 30.12.2024 Last week was a milestone for the FEPS-Nordic Digital Programme on Algorithms in the Workplace. We gathered for the final conference in Stockholm, which drew a full house and featured interesting discussions on AI - its opportunities and challenges from different perspectives. Nobel Laureate Daron Acemoglu, Professor at MIT, gave a thought-provoking keynote speech and later participated in a debate on AI with Magdalena Andersson, Leader of the Swedish Opposition (Social Democrats). The debate was moderated by Simon Vinge from SSR. The conference also saw the launch of a policy study carried out by the Karolinska Institute and Stockholm University written by Carin Håkansta, Ruben Lind, Pille Strauss-Raats and Pontus Blüme. This report presents results from a study set in Sweden on the ramifications of digital technologies and algorithmic management (AM) and how technology affects the prospects for workplace co-determination and democracy.
